Today’s Pearl, Sapphira Oddo is family and friend living in Fort
Collins, Colorado and attending Colorado State University. Friends with my daughter, Micha; Sapphira
adopted me as her father. See her video on YouTube.
This single mom of two sons and full time student pursuing a
writing career descends from ancestors indigenous to what became the American
Southwest. Before the coming of
Europeans to North America, the Navajo lived in what became Northern Arizona. Sapphira speaks of her development as living
out the tension of a learned sense of self and her inherited sense of self.
Her relationship with her elders grounded her in the culture
and history of her ancestors while engaging culture beyond her family. She is honored she descends from a
matriarchal culture with a creation narrative about the first woman. This inspiration for her life teaches her
strong women last. Learn more about my awesome daughter who has a soul from the spirit of the 1960's and today's pearl on Facebook.
